Following like its predecessor of the 1980’s, this drama series is focused on the lives of teenagers living around De Grassi of Toronto. They have to go through a harsh time undergoing realities like child, sexual and drug abuse, gang violence, school shootings and such travesties. Following in the six season the graduating students now have the task to find their path into the materialistic world, get an admission in a university.

Joining the new generation of Degrassi, are the former students of the place, having different roles from a parent or a teacher this time.

Degrassi: The Next Generation 11.31 ‘Nowhere to Run, Part Two’ Review

Degrassi followers will have to wait for a few months before the new season airs on 2012. Meanwhile, fans can use this hiatus to pore over the midseason Halloween special entitled “Nowhere to Run”. The episode ran for an hour; that is, one hour of drama and horror blended seamlessly.

The episode begins when Jake and Claire become lawful siblings through Helen and Glen Martin’s wedding. Meanwhile, Alli and Dave’s relationship was also in turmoil when she found out about his steamy summer fling. Brokenhearted Alli joined Katie, Drew and Marisol as Jake invites them to his escape to the woods at his family’s log cabin. After all, they had one last weekend before classes began.

Jake and Alli, being the despondent ones in the group, exchanged sentiments and in their vulnerability, ended up liplocking. Claire, who resolved to salvage their relationship, went after them, only to witness their infidelity. Feeling betrayed, she scurried off into the woods and got lost. The boys went into a frenzied search but Eli, who appeared out of nowhere, found her before they did. After the Claire hunt, they returned to the cabin. Jake laid all the blame on Alli which seemed to do it for Claire. The two decided to keep mum about their relationship from their parents. When all was well again between the couple, Claire and Alli weren’t, which compelled the latter to get a separate ride back to the city.

The rest of the gang who wasn’t caught up in a love triangle had the main serving of the horror and it all began with Marisol’s pot indulgence. While the boys were out looking for Claire, Marisol was painfully bored and wound up smoking pot which she found on a couch. Since Alli passed, it was Katie who accompanied her at a shed. Baked as they were, they found themselves locked up in the shed. Marisol was hysterical but Katie chainsaw-ed their way out of the room.

Now the cabin has had a dark past; a double homicide and suicide, to be exact. Joyce Pratt was murdered by her husband David when she was caught with another man. The infidels were killed and in his guilt, David also killed himself. Jake shared this to the group and added that an unwanted visitor still haunts the place.

Towards the end of the episode, a figure with a chainsaw lurked outside the cabin and frightened the entire group. It turns out that it was just Glen with his new wife in tow. They came all the way from their honeymoon straight to the woods to check on Jake and company.

To sum up the hour-long episode, Glen shares a striking line: “Jealousy makes people do some pretty ugly things.”
