The Canadian teen drama Degrassi: The Next generation is a show created by Linda Schuyler and Kit Hood back in 1979. This is actually the fourth franchise of the Degrassi series. The first three series titles are The Kids of Degrassi Street, Degrassi Junior High and Degrassi High.

Like the other Degrassi series, Degrassi: The Next Generation is a show which deals with a group of students facing the challenges of being insecure with their self during their teenage life. The show deals with the various problems a teenager faces during this period of life like peer pressure, sexual identity, gang violence, teenage pregnancy and even drug abuse.

Degrassi: The Next Generation is produced by Epitome Pictures together with CTV. The show has been receiving nice reviews from the entertainment press. To date, Degrassi is being aired to more than 140 countries following its major success in the US.
