Young volunteers are to be led on tours to India and Ecuador this summer by cast members of the hit TV show, “Degrassi: The Next Generation.”

Me to We Trips, a 10-year-old Toronto-based organization which supports the work of its charitable partner Free the Children, are organising the tours, and these tours are targeted at people aged 13 to 21, as quoted by Angie Gurley.

The participants will visit Free the Children’s development projects and also get involved in a project regarding building a school, and join in group discussions about social issues.

Liberty (played by Sarah Barrable-Tishauer) and Kelly (played by Evan Williams) will be leading the trip to the North-Western province of Rajasthan in India, which is scheduled to run from 21st July to 9thAugust and will be costing them about C$4,995, including travelling fares from Toronto.

Danny (Dalmar Abuzeid) and Johnny (Scott Paterson) will lead the trip to Ecuador’s rural province of Chimborazo from 10th to 28th August. These participants will also be involved in building a school and taking part in leadership workshops. The total cost for the project is about C$3595 including air-fare from Toronto.

“I felt useful” says Williams, who is reported to have taken a Me to We Trip to Ecuador in 2007. He says he felt hooked in to a greater movement among the young people of today to take responsibility for the current state of affairs in the world, and found an awakened desire to be part of a new wave of change, during a press release. He also stated that he was excited to have the privilege of leading others through a similar experience.
